Ryuken

This is a shikomi-zue (translated: Prepared cane) or a cane sword which I have named Ryuken for obvious reasons. Shikomi-zue were made when swords became outlawed for all non-soldiers and had a straight blade of lesser quality, never meant to stand up to a katana, but to simply provide protection for the common folk without arousing suspision.

First, no I do not walk around town with this. that would be moronic of me.

I hand-sharpened the blade to a medium edge, sharp enough to cut, but not so sharp that the slightest impact would notch the blade. The hamon (wavy etching on the edge) is false and just for decoration. all in all Ryuken is about 6 inches (12 centimeters) longer than my arm, and is forged of carbon steel. not the strongest weapon steel out there, but better than your average display weapon.

Also, the design on the grip... does it look familiar to anyone?
And btw, the name means "Dragon (ryu) Sword" (ken)
